How we calculate your urethane casting quote

Quoting a urethane casting project at Onit MFG starts with understanding what the part needs to do—and then building a cost around making that happen without waste or surprises. Right here on this page, you can upload your 3D file, select your quantity, and choose a material to get an instant rough estimate. Our calculator factors in what really matters: material performance (because higher-end urethanes reduce rework), tooling complexity, production volume, and finish requirements. If your part calls for custom formulations, tight tolerances, or quick-turn delivery, those inputs can affect cost—and our tool helps highlight that early. Smaller batches may carry more setup overhead, while large runs benefit from scale. And when the job is more complex than a standard quote can cover, you can send your file straight to our engineering team for a more in-depth review, right from this page.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What are the benefits of Urethane casting?

  • “As molded” design can be produced
  • Scalability between CNC/3DP & Injection Molding – Sweet spot is 10-100 parts
  • Looks like and acts like production in most cases
  • Functional snaps and clasps
  • Quick Turn around ~2 weeks

How do features like threads and snaps hold up on urethane cast parts?

  • These are production grade materials so Snap features, bump-offs, and threads have no problem with the same design guidelines as injection molding

How fast is the urethane casting process?

  • First batches of parts can ship in about 10 days! Once molds are built, we can make 3-5 parts per mold per day. Faster batches can be done when you build two or more molds of each part…you say jump, we ask how high?!

Can you put insert or overmold urethane cast parts?

  • Yep!  These parts are robust, we can drill them, place insert in them, snap them and the list goes on.

How long do the silicone molds last?

  • Each mold has a useful life of about 20 parts – based on them being flexible they are prone to having some wear or small features breaking as we mold and remove parts.  If you continue to produce with us, we will help keep all of the components of your project alive and healthy.

Do you store the Molds and master patterns?

  • We can store your silicone molds for up to 6 months for reuse, though we assess each one’s integrity before storing. We’ll also hold onto the master pattern for up to 2 years of inactivity before disposing of it—or we can send it back to you if you’d prefer!
